  2. Joseph, Duke of Orleans 1747-93; both were
  3. known as Philippe Egalite from their support
  4. of the 1792 Revolution. He fled into exile
  5. 1793-1814, but became king after the 1830
  6. revolution with the backing of the rich
  7. bourgeoisie. Corruption discredited his
  8. regime, and after his overthrow, he escaped
  9. to the UK and died there.
